Do you know Age of Empires II? Do you still play the game?

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings (AGE2, AOE II or AOK) is a strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft. This game was released on 1999-2000 for Windows and Macintosh operating systems which can be played via PC, Play Station (PS), and Mobile phone with Windows Mobile operating system. In addition to The Age of King (AOK) was also released another version that is almost the same, namely Age of Empires II: The Conqueror that can be played through the Play Station.
Although this is an old game that released long time ago, but the fans of this strategy game is still a lot and even tended to increase. One indicator can be seen when you log into Gameranger, a program that can connect between players around the world.Free game age of empires
Among fans of AOE II game is mostly reasoned that this game is very mild, not requiring large memory and high-specification computers. Besides this game can be played by single player or multiplayer till eight players offline or online via the internet. The game also has various types i.e. Regicide, King of the Hill, Wonder Race, Random Map, Death Match, Scenario, and Defend The Wonder. Graphic display is pretty good though of course not as good as Age of Empires III.
If you try to play this game online through Gameranger, you will find other types of this game. In addition, the map of the game is pretty much, there are Arabia, Mongolia, Archipelago, Arena, Baltic, Black Forest, Coastal, Continental, Fortress, Ghost Lake, Gold Rush, Highland, Islands, Mediterranean, Nomad, Oasis, Rivers, Salt Mars, Scandinavia, Team Island, and Yucatan.

The host can start the game at any time by pressing the 'start' button in his game room window. Once he does that gameranger will automatically start up AoE and go straight to multiplayer. Everyone who joined in the game ranger room will eventurly join up in the AoE multiplayer room provided there was no connection problems. Two things to note. Starting Age sets the age in which the match starts for all players. Ending Age determines the maximum age to which players can progress during the match. Treaty Length prevents players from attacking each other for a set amount of time at the start of the match. Victory determines the victory condition that must be achieved to win the match.

There are many civilizations in AOE II which can be chosen to play i.e. the Aztecs, Britons, Byzantines, Celts, Chinese, Franks, Goths, Huns, Japanese, Koreans, Mayans, Mongols, Persians, Saracens, Spanish, Teutons, Turks, and Vikings . Each civilization has its advantages and disadvantages of each. So this is where a player must be clever to set a good strategy to capitalize on any advantages of the civilization.

Bold by Destineer has announced the release of a new update to Age of Empires II: Gold Edition. The new update, 1.0.4, is ready for download from Bold’s Web site and corrects a number of issues, including a problem associated with the Restore Saved Multiplayer Game feature.

Bold by Destineer’s Age of Empires II: Gold Edition is the Macintosh version of the enormously popular strategy game originally developed for the PC by Ensemble Studios. The game puts you in command and control of a medieval civilization that you must help build and expand. Unlike other civilization-building games, Age of Empires II emphasizes combat elements as you raise armies and machines of war.

Players are now able to save a multiplayer game any time and restart it later. If one of the player’s computers in a multiplayer game crashes or disconnects abruptly from the game, the game will now automatically save on another player’s machines that all players can restart where they left off, according to Bold by Destineer.

In addition to the Restore Saved Multiplayer Game issue, several other enhancements have been made:

  • GameRanger launch problem under OSX.
  • Download Game Age Of Empires 2

  • Problems with OS9 joining an OSX hosted game.
  • Recent Games list in the Join Game dialog. It was not remembering recent IP addresses.

  • Under OS9, alleviated problems with background applications trying to come to the front. Background applications (like Instant Messenger and Palm Desktop) should not interfere any longer.
  • Hardware cursor is now always used. This eliminates problems with the cursor disappearing after dismissing certain dialogs.
  • The game now deletes its temporary files when the game quits. This should eliminate the problem of temporary files being found in the trash upon restart.
  • “Assertion (bytesToRead>=28) failed” problem during multiplayer games.
  • Free Game Age Of Empires

  • Crash in certain circumstances when trying to join a game with an invalid IP address.
  • The publisher noted the efforts of Westlake Interactive programmers Mark Krenek and Brad Oliver for tracking down and correcting these problems.
